Background: Integrin beta 7

Integrin beta7 is a 130 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the integrin beta chain family. It heterodimerizes with either Integrin alpha4 or alphaE. Whereas, Integrin alphaE beta7 is a receptor for E-Cadherin, Integrin alpha4/ beta7 is a receptor for fibronectin, MAdCAM 1 and VCAM1. The extracellular domain of mouse Integrin beta7 shares 94% and 87% amino acid sequence identity with that of rat and human Integrin beta7, respectively.
