Background: Retinoblastoma binding protein 1

ARID4A (AT-rich interactive domain-containing protein 4A) is also known as RbBP1 (retinoblastoma binding protein 1) and is a retinoblastoma binding protein and member of the AT-rich interaction domain (ARID) family of proteins. In addition to the ARID DNA binding domain, ARID4A also contains a chromo domain and a TUDOR domain, indicating a function in chromatin organization and protein-protein interactions with methylated protein substrates. ARID4A is implicated to be involved in chromatin remodeling and epigenetic modifications and to play a role in the pathogenesis of cancer.

Alternate Names

AT rich interactive domain 4A (RBP1-like), RBBP-1, RBP-1, RBP1ARID domain-containing protein 4A, retinoblastoma binding protein 1, Retinoblastoma-binding protein 1RBBP1AT-rich interactive domain-containing protein 4A
