Recombinant Rat IL-17A/F Heterodimer Protein Bioactivity
Recombinant Rat IL‑17A/F Heterodimer (Catalog # 9340-IL) induces IL-6 secretion by NIH‑3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cells. The ED50 for this effect is 3-18 ng/mL.Formulation, Preparation and Storage
Carrier Free
What does CF mean?CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
What formulation is right for me?In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Background: IL-17A/F Heterodimer
IL-17A and IL-17F, as well as the heterodimeric IL-17A/F (6, 11, 12). IL-17A/F is a biologically active protein that induces chemokine production and airway neutrophilia with intermediate potency between IL-17A (most potent) and IL-17F (least potent) (7, 12). It is up-regulated in immune cells during inflammatory arthritis and contributes to disease severity (13).
