Product Specifications

Description

A homodimer consisting of two 60 amino acid polypeptide chains corresponding to TFF1/pS2, which includes a 40-amino acid trefoil motif containing three conserved intramolecular disulfide bonds Source: E. coli

Uniprot ID: P04155

Amino Acid Sequence: EAQTETCTVA PRERQNCGFP GVTPSQCANK GCCFDDTVRG VPWCFYPNTI DVPPEEECEF

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Purity

> 97 % pure by SDS-PAGE and HPLC

Endotoxin Level

Less than 1 EU/ug of TFF1/pS2 as determined by LAL method.

Predicted Molecular Mass

13.2 kDa.
Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Activity

TFF1/pS2 protein is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by a chemotaxis bioassay using human MCF-7 cells is less than 10 ug/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of >100 IU/mg

Background: TFF1

Estrogen Inducible Protein pS2 (Trefoil factor 1 or TFF1) belongs to the trefoil factor family that consists of three members named TFF1, TFF2 and TFF3. They are characterized by having at least one copy of the trefoil motif, a 40-amino acid domain that contains three conserved disulfides. The TFFs are stable secretory proteins expressed highly in the gastrointestinal tract (gastric mucosa). Estrogen Inducible Protein pS2 (TFF1) is an essential protein for normal differentiation of the antral and pyloric gastric mucosa and functions as a stabilizer of the mucous gel overlying the gastrointestinal mucosa that provides a physical barrier against various noxious agents. It is studied because of commonly expressed in tumors as well.
