Background: TFF2

Spasmolytic Polypeptide (Trefoil factor 2 or TFF2) encoded by the TFF2 gene in humans, belongs to the trefoil factor family that consists of three members named TFF1, TFF2 and TFF3. They are characterized by having at least one copy of the trefoil motif, a 40-amino acid domain that contains three conserved disulfides. The TFFs are stable secretory proteins expressed highly in the gastrointestinal tract (gastric mucosa). Spasmolytic Polypeptide (TFF2) can inhibit gastrointestinal motility and gastric acid secretion. Additionally, it functions as a structural component of gastric mucus, possibly by stabilizing glycoproteins in the mucus gel through interactions with carbohydrate side chains.

Product Specific Notices for Recombinant Human TFF2 Protein

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. This product is guaranteed for 1 year from date of receipt.
