Product Specifications

Immunogen

Highly purified normal homogenous IgG2a(1b) isolated from mouse serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.

Reactivity Notes

The antiserum does not cross-react with any other component of the Mouse Ig system. Inter-species crossreactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to immunoglobulins, since Ig of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail; expected chance of cross-reactivity will be small.

Specificity

The reactivity of the antiserum is directed to the subclass IgG2a. It reacts strongly withIg2a of the allelic types Igh-1a and Igh-1b, which include BALB/C, C57BL, CBA/J, SJ/J and SM/J. When used fro the identification of IgG2a in other mouse strains the reaction may be weaker. The antiserum contains antibodies to iso and allospecific determinants. It does not react with other subclasses of IgG, IgG/Fab fragments, IgM and IgA or any non-Ig protein in mouse serum, as tested by immunoelectrophoresis and double radial immunodiffusion.

Clonality

Polyclonal

Host

Sheep

Description

The lyophilized conjugate is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at 4C; prolonged storage at or below -20C. Prior to use, an aliquot is thawed slowly at ambient temperature, spun down again and used to prepare working dilutions by adding sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. Working dilutions should be stored at 4C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the immunoconjugate.

Background: IgG2A

R&D Systems offers a range of secondary antibodies and controls for flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and Western blotting. We provide species-specific secondary antibodies that are available with a variety of conjugated labels.

Our NorthernLights fluorescent secondary antibodies are bright and resistant to photobleaching. We are currently offering secondary antibodies recognizing mouse, rat, goat, sheep, and rabbit IgG as well as chicken IgY. These reagents are available with three distinct excitation and emission maxima, making them ideal for multi-color fluorescence microscopy.
