INTENDED USE AND DESCRIPTION: For use a quantitative control for the determination of human MIF concentrations in biological fluids. Controls are supplied lyophilized. MIF (macrophage migration inhibitory factor) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is released during microbial infection, ARDS, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. It signals through CXCR4, CXCR7, or complexes of CD74-CD44. MIF exhibits potent paracrine and autocrine stimulatory effects on cell growth and survival and enhances the production of inflammatory cytokines. It also inhibits the effectiveness of immunosuppressive glucocorticoids.

Storage

• Store lyophilized controls at 2-8 °C. Lyophilized controls are stable for up to 12 months from date of receipt.
• Reconstituted controls are stable for up to 6 months from date of preparation when stored at ≤ -70 °C. Storage at -20° C is not recommended.
• Individual frozen aliquots of low and high controls are designed as single-use entities. Thaw directly before use and discard any remaining volume.
