We needed assays that were not only excellent at conserving our limited sample volumes but would allow us to test a lot of markers quickly and efficiently. The Luminex and Simple Plex assays proved to be the ideal choice in this case, giving us a level of accuracy and reproducibility that we’ve been unable to get with other platforms.

We were fortunate to be able to test these Luminex porcine panels early in our research effort. Once we could see the measurements we were getting on the plates, we knew we had found what we were looking for. The panels ended up making a huge difference in the outcome of the study.

I was looking at two different isoforms of a protein, and it was important to know if the cells were expressing just one versus the other or both in a given cell. That was tricky until Milo came. We’re also getting more relevant information because Milo allows us to look at expression of this protein in tissue biopsies.

We have been pairing Milo with single-cell real time qPCR data. We have the RNA and we know the transcripts are present. We used Milo to confirm our results and quantify the amount of protein that is in each individual cell.
Simple Western
One of the best advantages of using Wes is that it saves a lot of time, both in terms of hands-on time and in time to completion of the experiment. We were spending more than 4 hours of hands-on time per Western blot with traditional methods, and we can set up a run on the Wes in about 45 minutes. Our Wes runs are completed in less than 4 hours, as opposed to 4 days with traditional methods.

We collect samples from laser microdissection and were using our entire sample on just one regular Western blot. With Wes, we can do multiple assays with one sample collection.

The rapid, reproducible results on small amounts of tissue/cell lysates have allowed me to generate a more thorough data set on additional proteins, samples, conditions and brain regions all in the same amount, or even less time, as traditional Western blot.
