5-HT1F: cDNA Clones
5-HT1F is one of the several different receptors for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins that inhibit adenylate cyclase activity. Serotonin 5-HT1F receptors are located primarily in the hippocampus, cortex and dorsal raphe nucleus. Abnormal function of the serotonergic system has been implicated in a variety of neurologic and psychiatric diseases. 5-HT1F may play a role in these diseases.
