Bora: Proteins and Enzymes

Bora, also known as C13orf34, is a 61 kDa initiator of the G2-M transition in the cell cycle. At the onset of mitosis, Bora translocates from the nucleus to the cytoplasm where it activates Aurora-A and PLK1 to promote mitotic spindle function. Bora contains a serine-rich region from amino acids (aa) 188-278. Within aa 1-180, human Bora shares approximately 84 percent aa sequence identity with mouse and rat Bora.
