Inhibin A: Lysates

Activins and Inhibins are TGF-beta superfamily proteins that regulate a wide range of processes including mesoderm induction, reproductive system development and function, liver growth and regeneration, wound healing, and inflammation. Inhibin binds and antagonizes Activin RIIA and Activin RIIB in complex with the TGF-beta RIII and/or IGSF1 co-receptors and subsequently acts to suppress Activin-induced Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) secretion.

Inhibins are produced by gonadal cells in both males and females and regulate gametogenesis, and embryonic and fetal development. Elevated concentrations of Inhibins are associated with pregnancy, preeclampsia, and ovarian cancer. Inhibin A levels are typically measured during prenatal screening for Down syndrome.
