MGL1/CD301a: cDNA Clones

MGL proteins (macrophage galactose N-acetyl-galactosamine (GalNAc) specific Lectin; CD301) are type II transmembrane glycoprotein of the C-type lectin family. Two proteins, MGL1 (CD301a, also called ASGP-BP (asialoglycoprotein binding protein) and MGL2 (CD301b), are expressed in the mouse, where only one exists in human and rat. Mouse MGL1 preferentially recognizes the Lewis X epitope, while human MGL and mouse MGL-2 bind specifically to terminal GalNAc residues.
