PSF2: Proteins and Enzymes
PSF2, also known as DNA replication complex GINS protein PSF2, is a 185 amino acid protein that is 21 kDa, belongs to the GINS2/PSF2 family, localizes in the nucleus, plays an essential role in the initiation of DNA replication and progression of DNA replication forks, and seems to bind preferentially to single-stranded DNA. This protein is being studied for its involvement in breast cancer. The protein has been also linked to the unwinding of DNA, S Phase, DNA strand elongation, synthesis of DNA, DNA replication, cell cycle, and cell cycle, mitotic pathways where it interacts with CHEK2, GINS4, FANCF, GTF2A1L, KPNA4, LMNB1, and other proteins.
