PTP sigma/PTPRS: cDNA Clones
PTPR sigma, also known as PTP sigma, is an integral membrane protein. The extracellular domain is cleaved near the cell membrane by an endoprotease to generate a glycated 140 kDa protein. Significant levels of this protein are found in the brain and in endocrine tissues such as the pituitary gland and pancreas. Knockout mice deficient in PTPRs have severe neurological deficits.
