RACK1: Proteins and Enzymes
RACK1 (receptor for activated C kinase 1) is highly conserved and has homology to the beta subunit of heterotrimeric G proteins. Initially isolated by its binding to active PKC isoforms, RACK1 is a scaffold protein that promotes the formation of multiprotein complexes that integrate distinct signaling pathways. RACK1 is also a 40S ribosomal subunit constituent, potentially linking these pathways directly to protein translation.
