TAS2R43: Proteins and Enzymes
The TAS2R43 gene encodes a 309 amino acid long, 35 kDA taste receptor type 2 member 43 protein that obtains the ability to identify the perception of bitterness in the oral cavity and in the intestinal tract. Additionally, it is thought to act as a chemosensory receptor in airway epithelial cells in order to monitor as well as eliminate noxious agents. Therefore, TAS2R43 participates in bitter taste signaling and taste transduction.
