XAGE1: Proteins and Enzymes
The XAGE1 gene encodes the G antigen family D member 2 protein. XAGE-1 is strongly expressed in normal testis tissue and various cancer tissues, such as breast, prostate, and lung cancers.
This gene is a member of the XAGE subfamily of the GAGE family. The GAGE genes are expressed in a variety of tumors and in some fetal and reproductive tissues. The G antigen family D member 2 protein contains a nuclear localization signal and shares a sequence similarity with other GAGE/PAGE proteins. This protein also belongs to a family of CT (cancer-testis) antigens based on the sequence similarity and the similar expression patterns.
