This antibody was generated by immunizing female BALB/c mice with a fusion protein containing extracellular domain of human CD40 Ligand/TNFSF5 fused to the hinge CH2 and CH3 domains of a murine IgG2b antibody.

Specificity

This antibody binds the CD40 Ligand/TNFSF5 and blocks the humoral immune responses to T cell dependent antigens in a dose dependent manner.

Background: CD40 Ligand/TNFSF5

CD40L is the ligand for CD40, a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily. CD40L is expressed mainly on activated CD4+ T-lymphocytes as a single-pass type II membrane protein. Proteolytic processing of the membrane form results in a soluble secreted form of CD40L.
