COS-7: Lysates

The COS cell line is derived from kidney cells of African Green monkeys. COS-7 is a form of the COS cell line that is often used in studies of the simian virus SV40, which has been linked to some varieties of human cancer. Some COS cells have been shown to constitutively express the potentially oncogenic protein, T-antigen. COS-7 cells are also used to create recombinant proteins for biological applications, especially transfection experiments.
