Nogo-A: Proteins and Enzymes

Nogo-A, also known as Reticulon 4 (RTN4) is a transmembrane protein that is mainly expressed in oligodendrocytes of the central nervous system but is also reported in fibroblasts, dorsal root ganglion neurons, macrophages, and myoblasts. Binding of the Nogo66 region to the Nogo Receptor/p75 complex on axons induces growth cone collapse and blocks neurite outgrowth. Nogo-A interactions with the Nogo-B receptor (NgBR/NUS1) can regulate vascular remodeling, inhibit neuronal differentiation, and promote glial formation from neural progenitors.
