ZFYVE27 is an upstream inhibitor of RAB11, which regulates directional protein transport to the forming neurites, meaning it is involved in nerve growth factor-induced neurite formation. Current research is being done on several diseases and disorders related to this gene including paraplegia, spasticity, cholangiocarcinoma, and Alzheimer's disease.
