Activin RIIA: Proteins and Enzymes
Activin RIIA (Activin Receptor IIA) is a transmembrane type II Ser/Thr kinase receptor that binds its ligands and then associates with type I receptors. Activin RIIA mediates the pleiotropic effects of Activins and Inhibins as well as several members of the BMP and GDF families of TGF-beta like proteins.
Signaling through Activin RIIA is modulated by its interaction with RGM-B/DRAGON, Cripto, Endoglin/CD105, TGF-beta RIII/Betaglycan, or BAMBI. These interactions can enhance ligand-induced signaling or interfere with signaling by preventing Activin RIIA association with type I receptors.
